We took a horse ride and some advice from a friend. Our mule Tecumseh gets upset when he is left behind on our horse rides, so at the suggestion of our premier horse friend we let him tag along today. He was not on a lead, he just followed along. Really he spent most of the time in the lead, except when he was unsure of something like crossing the pond dam or when he found some fresh grass. Taking the mule was like taking a dog on a walk, they are with you but not always next to you. Maybe next time we take him we will put a saddle on him with a bag or two of corn, to simulate a rider.
Janisse planted a couple Persimmon shoots from her brother and a few Swamp Chestnut Oaks by the hog pen. It may take a while, but someday there may still be hogs there when those trees drop their one inch plus acorns.
We have one really large Swamp Chestnut Oak and two large one that provides us with plenty of acorns, great hog and turkey feed, maybe the ones we plant now will be enjoyed by people in the future.
