About 3 years ago I planted some of the 1” plus acorns along the road. These acorns never sprouted. I wanted to plant along the road so that someday more of our road would be a canopy of this wonderful tree.
The year before last quite a number of the acorns sprouted on their own under the 3 of these trees we have. I uprooted about a dozen of these and put them in pots for later transplanting to our desired location. Today I planted two by the hog area, they may put down some feed for hogs one day, two to square up our future cemetery, and the remaining 6 along the pasture road line. They should have no problem in the pasture, the cows ate our Longleaf a few years ago, but leave the oaks alone, as long as the goats leave them alone. Here’s to the next generation.
